A Grow Plan for Edmonton

Supporting food sovereignty and food security through urban agriculture.

It introduces a community-led plan to spark and sustain urban agriculture and growing food in Edmonton. The ‘Grow Plan’ is part of a wider community-led project seeking to advance a food security and food justice ecosystem in the City. The plan has been drafted for all Edmontonians and is a living document designed to drive transformative change from the community up. This plan is intended to offer inspiration and some paths forward for communities looking to grow produce for themselves, for sharing with the community, or for sale in Edmonton.

The plan consists of five parts:

  1. The Guiding Document: provides an overview of the plan

  2. The Stepped Plan (coming soon): an evolving table of key priorities, actions and potential community champions;

  3. A Menu of Actionable Items: a summary menu of actionable items that community members and organizations can adopt and carry forward.

  4. A Google Form: how you can get involved in Edmonton's Grow Plan and share your contribution to these efforts

  5. What We Heard Report (coming soon): provides a summary of the community engagement sessions we conducted in producing the Grow Plan

How you can help evolve and contribute to the plan?

For the plan to be truly successful, it cannot sit on a shelf; it must be a living, breathing roadmap that is owned and actioned by the community.

Do you have an item you want to pull off the menu? Is there something you think we should add?

Please fill in the Google Form!

It’s a community challenge, so community-driven, local action from you is key to advancing food sovereignty and food security.
